What Wattpad is good at

Wattpad describes itself as the largest storytelling platform in the world, a place where millions of readers and writers come together, where stories find fandoms early and sometimes grow into books, films and series. That is a fair description and it is a real strength. If you want an enormous catalogue, a community to talk to, authors posting in progress, and the chance to follow somebody from their first chapter, that is what a large platform gives you and a small site cannot.

What is different here

Everything is finished. Every story on Wrendell is complete on the day it appears. There is no in progress tag, no last updated two years ago, and no story that stops at chapter forty because the writer moved on. If you have ever got attached to something and then found the trail went cold, that is the specific thing this site is built to avoid.

Nothing is locked. No paid tiers, no coins, no chapter you reach and cannot open, no bonus ending. The last episode is as free as the first.

No account to read. You do not sign up, you do not give an email, and there is no app to install. You can comment without registering if you want to. If you want to be told when a new story is finished you can leave an address, and that is the only thing it is ever used for.

They are short on purpose. Three episodes, about eight hundred words each, roughly eleven minutes for a whole story. This is a site for one sitting, not for a serial you follow for a year.

How the stories are made

Wrendell publishes serialized fiction in romance, thriller, horror, mystery and family drama, written to a deliberate structure: a hook that is paid off in the first four words of the next episode, a threat or a turn established inside episode one, and an ending that lands and then takes something back. The stories are produced by the site rather than submitted by a community, which is why they are consistent in length and shape, and why there is no backlog of unfinished work.

If you are a writer

This is worth saying plainly, because a lot of people searching for a site like Wattpad are looking for somewhere to post. Wrendell does not take submissions and has no writer programme. If that is what you need, a large platform with a community is the better answer and you should go there.
